Up the East Coast

At this point, though there are still things on the to-do list for "next time in NZ," we've made tracks over most of the South Island and all that was left was to follow the east coast north.

We stopped in the city of Dunedin to get our hearts pounding with a walk up Baldwin Street, supposedly the steepest street in the world. Plenty steep for me!

Then a stop to see the awesome, bizarre rocks on the beach at Moeraki. They're almost perfectly round thanks to a really interesting geological formation, which I won't try to describe here, but definitely google "Moeraki Rocks" if you're curious.

And then we just booked it north north north on roads already traveled to get to fresh ground. Or water, as it were. This is the harbor town of Picton fading into the distance as we rode the ferry to Wellington. North Island, here we come!
