It was a beautiful return to (and final day in Tahiti). My parents have made it to their 50th anniversary! Nice work, you crazy kids. And what a celebration it has been in this gorgeous part of the world.
I’ll be sticking around the good ‘ole USofA this spring and therefore taking a break from posting here until I leave for the second leg of my travel fellowship in late May. Till then…
Of all the stops we made on this trip, I think this is the island I’d most like to return to for further exploration…
My parents’ 50th anniversary is in less than ten days and we are on a trip to French Polynesia to celebrate. Spectacular.
It’s not enough for this sweet island and its epic beaches and sunsets!
I’m doing a quick regroup in WI and then (travel gods willing) I’ll be back here next week from an entirely different island paradise….
What a couple months. I got to record more than 25 conversations for my fellowship project and soaked up all I could of this glorious island. By the time you read this I’ll have moved on, with sadness at leaving and so much gratitude for getting to experience this place.
On my last day in Dominica I visited the magical fairyland of Chaudiere Pool, a diving hole in the jungle. I met three very lovely people from Barbados and hung out with them for the afternoon. Couldn’t have been nicer!
I’m kicking myself that I haven’t been taking pictures of every bus stop I see in Dominica. Almost all of them have beautiful, unique mural art on the inside walls, making it a real joy to wait for a bus.
